{"id":655,"date":"2010-04-02T00:02:37","date_gmt":"2010-04-02T04:02:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rattlebridge.com\/blog\/2010\/04\/02\/i-rescued-a-human-today\/"},"modified":"2010-04-02T00:02:37","modified_gmt":"2010-04-02T04:02:37","slug":"i-rescued-a-human-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rattlebridge.com\/blog\/i-rescued-a-human-today\/","title":{"rendered":"I RESCUED A HUMAN TODAY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong>My beloved Snoop is a rescue dog.&#160; I joke that he came for two days and stayed nine years.&#160; He is a big black lab mix,<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong>my constant shadow.&#160; He is very obedient and smart as a whip.&#160; His favorite illegal pastimes, though, are rooting through waste<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong>baskets and garbage cans so he can eat any goodies he finds or chew up any tissues he finds.&#160; He is an expert at clearing <\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong>the kitchen cabinets of anything that entices him including very recently my lovely T Bone steak.&#160; I call him my gypsy lurcher.<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong>He knows that he is wrong for after he gets into the garbage, skilled as he is at opening garbage cans, or surfs the counter<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong>tops as he then slinks guiltily off with guilt written on his lowered face avoiding me completely.&#160; I was <\/strong><\/font><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong>so mad at him one day <\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong>for his usual counter surfing that I chased him around the house with a fly swatter!&#160; Snoop really knows<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong>what he is doing and he knows the repercussions; I think that perhaps he should join Tiger or now Jesse James in going to<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong>a rehab center for his addiction!<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong><\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong>Having Snoop in my life has been a blessing. Totally loyal to me, I have no doubt that he would protect me if <\/strong><\/font><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong>needed.&#160; <\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong>He is a great watch dog, but sometimes gets carried away in his zeal. I will adopt another rescue when the time is <\/strong><\/font><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong>right, <\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong>but do not support Peta and HSUS in their campaign to end the breeding of purebred dogs as their motto in advertising <\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong>now seems to <\/strong><\/font><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong>be&#160; \u201dbuy a purebred and sentence a shelter dog to death.\u201d&#160; If HSUS and Peta are so concerned about the <\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong>fate of shelter <\/strong><\/font><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong>animals, why are they not running shelters or supporting shelters to help dogs directly instead of using <\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong>all the millions in <\/strong><\/font><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong>donations they receive on advertising their cause and big salaries.&#160; While I am on a roll, I will stop <\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong>as the following vignette <\/strong><\/font><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong>is so sweet I wanted to race to the Delaware Humane Society shelter to be rescued.<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><strong><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\">&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; <\/font><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"3\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/rattlebridge.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/snoopandme32110.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px\" title=\"snoop and me 3 21 10\" border=\"0\" alt=\"snoop and me 3 21 10\" src=\"http:\/\/rattlebridge.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/snoopandme32110_thumb.jpg\" width=\"441\" height=\"641\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/font>&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; HORRORS! SNOOP AND ME ON A NO MAKE UP DAY!&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; <\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"4\"><strong><em>I rescued a human today.&#160; <br \/><\/em><\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"4\"><strong><em>Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively&#160; into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her.&#160; I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly,&#160; so she wouldn&#8217;t be afraid. As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage. I&#160; didn&#8217;t want her to know that I hadn&#8217;t been walked&#160; today.&#160; <\/em><\/strong><\/font><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"4\"><strong><em>Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn&#8217;t want her to think poorly of them. <\/em><\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"4\"><strong><em>As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn&#8217;t feel sad about my past. I only have the future          <br \/>to look forward to and want to make a difference in someone&#8217;s&#160; life. She got down on her knees and made little           <br \/>kissy sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her. <\/em><\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"4\"><strong><em>Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship. A tear fell down her cheek and I raised&#160; <br \/>my paw to assure her that all would be well. Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly           <br \/>jumped into her arms. <\/em><\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"4\"><strong><em>I would promise to keep her safe. I would promise to always be by her side. I would promise to do everything I could to&#160; <br \/>see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes. I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor. <\/em><\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#590170\" size=\"4\"><strong><em>So many more are out there who haven&#8217;t walked the corridors. So many more to be saved.
