MAY COLBY REST IN PEACE  12/25/00-3/27/10

“The Rainbow Bridge” is well known to almost all dog people; its sentiment gets us through the day and night when we lose one of beloved companions.

As much as I believe in heaven as my very finite mind can understand it, I really would be lost there, if I get there at all, basking in God’s light without my beloveds by my feet, in my lap, and on my face and around my neck where my Wendy, Colby’s mother, has placed herself for all these years.  I can only imagine the pain that Colby’s family, the Kopacks   are feeling on losing him when I am still facing losing Wendy who is now 12 and 1/2 and as demanding as ever! Looking at Colby, I can see his mother as all of her children bear such a strong resemblance to her. In honor of Colby, another Rattlebridge Cavalier who brought so much love into his home, and to his family who loved him in return. Thank you Paul and Lorraine for giving him such a wonderful home:

The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an
animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet
goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can
run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and
our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill
and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed
are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams
of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for
one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to
be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly
stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager
body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the
green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been
spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling
together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the
beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet,
so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together

postheadericon ONE BAD ASS MULE

Sometimes I feel just like this Bad Ass Mule!!

A couple from Montana were out riding on the range, he with his rifle and she (fortunately) with her camera.     Their dogs always followed them, but on this occasion a Mountain Lion decided that he wanted to stalk the dogs (you’ll see the dogs in the background watching).

Very, very bad decision.

The hunter got off the mule with his rifle and decided to shoot in the air to scare away the lion, but before he could get off a shot the lion charged in and decided he wanted a piece of those dogs.

With that, the mule took off and decided he wanted a piece of that lion.

That’s when all hell broke loose for the lion.     As the lion approached the dogs, the mule snatched him up by the tail and started whirling him around.  Banging its head on the ground on every pass.  Then he dropped it, stomped on it and held it to the ground by the throat.  The mule then got down on his knees and bit the thing all over a couple of dozen times to make sure it was dead, then whipped it into the air again, walked back over to the couple (who were stunned in silence) and stood there ready to continue his ride as if nothing had just happened.

Fortunately, even though the hunter didn’t get off a shot, his wife got the pictures.

GOD Is Busy

If you don’t know GOD, don’t make stupid remarks!!!!!!

A United States Marine was attending some college

courses between assignments .He had completed missions in Iraq and

Afghanistan .One of the courses had a professor who was an avowed

atheist, and a member of the ACLU.

One day the professor shocked the class when he came in.

He looked to the ceiling and flatly stated, ‘GOD, if you are real then I

want you to knock me off this platform. I’ll give you exactly 15 min.’

The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop.

Ten minutes went by and the professor proclaimed, ‘Here I am GOD,

I’m still waiting.’

It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got out

of his chair, went up to the professor, and cold-socked him; knocking him

off the platform. The professor was out cold.

The Marine went back to his seat and sat there, silently.

The other students were shocked and stunned, and sat

there looking on in silence.

The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken,

looked up at the Marine and asked, ‘What in the world is the matter with

you? ‘Why did you do that?’

T

he Marine calmly replied, ‘GOD was too busy today protecting

America’s soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid

stuff and act like an idiot. Since He was so busy… He sent me.’

The classroom erupted in cheers!

postheadericon The Five Surgeons–Politically Incorrect!

Once again, one of my friends sent me this “politically incorrect” gem which I just had to pass

this on as it is so truthful.

Five surgeons from big cities are discussing who makes the best patients
to operate on.

The first surgeon, from New York, says, “I like to see  accountants on my
operating table because when you open them up, everything inside is
numbered.”

The second, from Chicago, responds,”Yeah, but you should
try  electricians!   Everything inside them is color coded.”

The third surgeon, from Dallas, says, “No, I really think
librarians are the best, everything inside them is in alphabetical order”

The fourth surgeon, from Los Angeles, chimes
in: “You know, I like  construction workers…Those guys always understand
when you have a few  parts left over.”

But the fifth surgeon, from  Washington, DC shut them
all up when he observed: “You’re all wrong.   Politicians are the easiest to
operate on.  There’s no guts, no heart, no balls, no brains
and no spine, and the head  and the ass are interchangeable.”

The Cat’s Diary

Day 983 of My Captivity

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates my capabilities. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a “good little hunter” I am. Bastards!

clip_image003

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of “allergies.” I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow, but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released, and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird must be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now …

postheadericon Handbook for 2010

One of my brothers sent me the following, but there have been a couple of versions circulating on emails.

Subject: HANDBOOK For 2010

Health:

1.       Drink plenty of water.
2.       Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a
          beggar.
3.       Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that
          is manufactured in plants..
4.       Live with the 3 E’s — Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy

8..      Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day
9.       Sleep for 7 hours.

postheadericon A Lesson in Economics

If only, our country would listen!!!

image As the late Adrian Rogers said, “You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.”

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class.  That class had insisted that Obama’s socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, “OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama’s plan”. All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.

As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D!   No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else. All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

Could not be any simpler than that. (Please pass this on.)

Remember, there is a mid-term election in 2010!

And . . . Pass this one on!!!

You gotta watch this:  Ain’t it the truth!!!

Buy, Buy,America Buy

postheadericon Lenten Sentimental Journey

We all have regrets about fractured or lost relationships whether family or friends; we all have regrets in what we did or did not do, how we treated others, how we did not stay the course in tough times, or how we did not do what was right, honest, or ethical at times.  We judge others for their actions, words, or disregard and do not always see our own faults or actions for what they are. Sometimes, reconciliation with family or friend does not seem really possible through pride, through accumulated hurt, through the numbing of a conscience through repeated sins.  In God’s hands we may all be able to bridge gaps between us, amend our ways, and reach out no matter how impossible the situation appears. At this time of Lent, the examination of one’s conscience is especially important.  Homily after homily stresses the need for prayer, for the need to be honest with oneself, the need for recognizing our failings or our improper actions, and the need for forgiveness and the hope of absolution as we ready ourselves to honor in sorrow the Sacrifice of Christ as He journeys toward his death to save all of us. The following helped me in my thoughts as I begin my Lenten journey.

Read the following timeless message quietly then send it on its Journey:

To realize the value of a sister/brother

Ask someone who doesn’t have one.

To realize the value of ten years:

Ask a newly divorced couple.

To realize the value of four years:

Ask a graduate.

To realize the value of one year:

Ask a student who has failed an exam.

To realize the value of nine months:
Ask a mother who gave birth to a stillborn.

To realize the value of one month:

Ask a mother who has given birth to a premature baby.

To realize the value of one week:

Ask an editor of a weekly newspaper.

To realize the value of one minute:
Ask a person who has missed the train, bus or  plane.

To realize the value of one-second:

Ask a person who has survived an accident.

Time waits for no one.
Treasure every moment you have.

You will treasure it even more when
you can share it with someone special.

To realize the value of a friend or family member:
LOSE ONE.
